# Double Marker: Upload pupil scans

# Upload pupil scans in Double Marker

Upload completed pupil booklets to the correct task so Double Marker can match each page to its pupil. You need at least one pupil on the task before uploading is available.

## Prepare your PDFs

- Scan completed paper booklets as readable PDFs. Keep each page's pupil and page identifiers, including its QR code, fully visible; check that pages are the right way up and none are missing.
- If a pupil typed into a Word booklet, export the **completed Word document as a PDF** and upload that PDF. Word files cannot be uploaded.
- Each PDF must contain **1 to 500 pages**, be **non-empty**, and be no larger than **250 MiB**. Split a longer or larger PDF into smaller PDFs before uploading. Very large or unusually high-resolution pages may also need to be resized or rescanned if processing rejects them.
- Give each PDF a distinct filename. A file with a filename already uploaded to the task is skipped; check the upload result before assuming its pages have been added.

You can select more than one PDF at a time. Check that all files belong to the selected task.

## Upload the scans

1. Sign in to [Double Marker](https://double.nomoremarking.com/), open **Tasks** and select the correct task.
2. Open **Scan Uploads** and select **Select PDF(s)**.
3. Choose your PDF files. Upload starts when you select them. Stay on the page until the PDF upload finishes.
4. Check the upload result and the list of PDFs. Processing may continue after the file transfer; wait until each upload is ready.

If processing fails, use the **Retry processing** action on that upload, or cancel it and upload a corrected PDF. Wait for retried scans to become ready. Pending and failed scans block the task from proceeding.

## Check pages before confirming

Review the uploaded PDFs for missing pupils or pages and look at any **Failed Reads** or unmatched-page warnings. For a page the system could not identify, use **Match pages** on its PDF row to check the image and assign the correct pupil and page number, or upload a clearer scan. If the same pupil page appears more than once, open **Duplicates**, choose the physical page to use for each duplicate set, and select **Apply selections**. The other copies are ignored. Unmatched or unresolved duplicate pages prevent scan confirmation.

Use **School checking spreadsheet** if you need to compare the scanned pupils with the list originally supplied for booklet generation.

1. Once all uploads are ready and the page issues are resolved, select **Confirm uploads complete**.
2. Review the **Absentees** list (pupils with no matching scans) and **Partial uploads** list (pupils with fewer pages than expected).
3. If a scan is missing, select **Return to uploads**, then **Reopen uploads** to add or correct the scan. Review the lists again. When they are accurate, select **Confirm absentee list**.

Confirming uploads locks further uploads. If you need to add or correct scans afterward, select **Reopen uploads** and check them again. Reopening clears the upload confirmation and later stage approvals, including results release. If PDF deletion is locked because later work depends on the scans, contact a platform manager.
