How do I create a custom task?
If you are a subscriber and you want to create a custom task, we recommend getting in touch with us first by emailing support@nomoremarking.com We can offer you some extra support, and make sure that the results you get are in line with our national scales.
To create a custom task to trial the NMM system with a free account, please do the following:
Log in to your NMM account, go to the My Tasks page and click Create a Custom Task as shown on the screenshot below:
Fill in the form:
Name of the task.
Judge Question. You can use the default or write a specific question you would like your judges to answer. For example, you may want your judges to decide on 'the better essay?' or 'the better mathematician?' The judge question will be visible to the judges when they are judging.
Judge Info. Additional information about the task for the judges that they will see before they start judging.
Use Codes. Leave as Yes, if you want to use coded test sheets. Toggle to No if you intend to use responses written on ordinary paper. We would normally recommend coded sheets unless you are judging pdfs or that you have already collected.
'Yes' on the Use codes field means you have to upload a csv file containing your pupil details so the system could create a candidate list and consequently, the coded- test sheets for each of the participants.
'No', on the other hand, will lock the csv upload feature of the website because a non- coded task does not require a pre- loaded list of participants. It will automatically build a candidate list based on the file names of the responses you upload.
You can leave all other settings as the defaults and click on Update
To edit the coded test sheets template and the number of pages for each participant, click the Script Generation menu, then the downward arrow buttons for the available options, and the Submit button to save your preferences as shown on the screenshot below:
You will find your custom task under My Tasks --> All Tasks and/ or the Custom Tasks pages.
Please note that custom task results only provide task percentiles and local scaled scores unlike national tasks which come with a comprehensive report booklet.
If you have chosen a coded task, you can now proceed to upload candidate details.
