Work with No More Marking in 2026-27 - England & Wales

No More Marking - what we do

At No More Marking, we provide schools with AI-enhanced Comparative Judgement assessments of extended writing. Since 2017, we have worked with more than 2,000 schools in England & Wales to assess over 3 million pieces of writing, in the process creating the world's first writing age. In the last 18 months, we have integrated some powerful new AI features into our system.

What is AI-enhanced Comparative Judgement?

AI-enhanced Comparative Judgement combines expert human judgement with AI to assess writing quickly, reliably and at scale. Rather than marking each piece against a rubric, a combination of human and AI judges compare two pieces of writing and decide which is better; these decisions are then combined to produce a reliable rank order and scaled scores. Schools can choose just how much AI involvement they want. We recommend an approach that reduces the human workload down to 10-15 minutes, but still ensures every student response is seen twice by a human teacher. We also provide students and teachers with detailed AI and human feedback.

How schools in England and Wales can work with us in 2026-27

  1. National writing projects. For our national writing projects, we set the calendar, we set the tasks, and schools do the same thing at the same time. In return for that, schools get results which are nationally standardised against a large group of schools. We have three national writing projects for 26/27: Assessing Primary Writing, Improving Secondary Writing, and Post-16 writing. Click on the links to learn more, and compare prices here.
  2. Custom tasks for individual schools. If you want more flexibility over the task you set and the calendar for the assessment, then you can set up a custom task. You can use all our AI features, and assess whatever subject you want, whenever you want. Read more about how custom tasks work here, and compare prices here.
  3. Custom tasks for groups of schools. We work with a number of England's leading Multi-Academy Trusts to design assessments which link up all of the schools in their trust. If this is of interest, let us know and we can develop a bespoke offer for you.
  4. GCSE mocks. All of the above options are designed for single pieces of extended writing. GCSE mocks pose another challenge because they require multi-part question papers. We ran a successful small trial of a GCSE mock system in summer 2026, and are running a bigger trial in autumn 2026. If you would like to find out more, register your interest here.
