Marking Interface

We recommend Chrome on a laptop for the marking!

1. Access and Login

  • To access marking, paste your marking link into a browser.
  • Enter your email address and click continue to open the marking screen.

2. Interface Overview and Navigation

  • Scripts are displayed in a scrollable view.
  • You will see your assignment eg. 10 scripts from a total of 205 pupils.
  • You can click anywhere on the interface to jump to specific questions (e.g., question 2).
  • The system allows you to navigate through all responses for a single question across different students.
  • You can move between questions easily (e.g., from question 2 to question 3).
  • Vertical scrolling is available to view full responses.

3. Mark Scheme and Marking Process

  • The mark scheme is accessible by hovering over it to display a tooltip.
  • Tooltips provide a quick reference while marking.
  • Enter marks and press enter or click the button to save.
  • After saving, the system automatically advances to the next question.

4. Color-Coded Status Indicators

  • Green: Question has been marked.
  • Grey: Question has not been looked at yet.
  • Red: AI has identified an issue requiring human review.

5. AI Issue Detection & Human Overrides

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Issues

  • Red flags indicate problems with text recognition.
  • These are commonly caused by crossed-out text or poor handwriting which the AI struggles to read accurately.
  • When OCR issues are present, human marks override AI marks.

Judging Issues

  • These occur when the AI was inconsistent in evaluating a script compared to others.
  • This requires human confirmation of the mark.

The Human Override System

  • Most of the time, human marks will not override AI marks.
  • When there is a flagged issue (red), human marks override the AI mark.
  • The system lacks confidence in AI marks when issues are detected.

6. Audio Comments Feature

  • You can leave audio comments on student work.
  • Comments are summarised in feedback given at the question level, not the pupil level.
  • Click anywhere in the script to leave an audio comment.
