Double Marker: Marking your allocation

This guide shows teachers how to check highlighted issues, enter marks, save their work and review or correct a saved mark in Double Marker.

The walkthrough uses a test task. The scores demonstrate the controls; always apply the mark scheme for your own paper.

Open your allocated work

Open the marking link in your invitation and sign in with the invited email address. Keep My Assignment selected to work through your allocation. The scanned response appears on the left and the marking controls on the right.

  • By Script lets you work through questions for one pupil.
  • By Question lets you mark the same question across scripts.
  • Select a numbered response button to open an answer.

Check a highlighted issue

Red outlines identify responses selected for checking or human marking. Select a highlighted response to see its reason above the grid.

For example, Illegible handwriting flags a possible difficulty reading the handwriting. Inspect the original scanned answer carefully and apply the mark scheme. The flag itself does not mean that the pupil earns zero marks.

The video briefly uses All Scripts to show a highlighted example from the wider test task. Return to My Assignment for your allocated marking.

Enter and save a mark

  1. Read the scanned answer and the paper’s mark scheme.
  2. Enter a whole number from 0 to the maximum shown. If the answer earns no credit, enter 0; an empty box is not a saved mark.
  3. Select Save, or press Enter. Typing a number alone does not save it.
  4. Wait for saving to finish. The workspace advances to the next allocated response, and the saved response turns green in the grid.

Review or correct a mark

Select a green response button to review it. Its saved value appears in the Mark box. To correct it, replace the number and select Save again.

Finish your allocation

Continue until every allocated response has a saved mark. When your allocation is complete, Double Marker displays its thank-you message. You can then review your marks or sign out. Your school admin separately confirms that all marking for the task is complete.
